MC-4/8 Eight Channel Input Upgrade
MC-4/8 Eight Channel Input Upgrade
The Lexicon MC-4 and MC-8 came from the factory with built in 6 channel analog bypass inputs. These are used to listen to the high resolution soundtracks of SACD, DVD-A or BluRay discs. The Lexicon takes the surround input and feeds it to both the side and rear outputs.
However, there are now true 7.1 channel soundtracks available on BluRay. This upgrade expands the existing 6 channel analog bypass input to 8 channels. This allows you to listen to the entire soundtrack without having to downmix the signal to 6 channels.
This upgrade also allows you to switch between a 6 channel input (where the surround input is duplicated to sides and rears) or having a full 8 channel input. This is so that on 6 channel soundtracks you can still use both side and rear speakers as you currently do. When you then play an 8 channel soundtrack you put the Lexicon in 8 channel mode to hear the entire soundtrack.
Analog input 1 becomes the rear channels input. You switch between 6 and 8 channel mode by turning on the programmable trigger when in multi-channel analog bypass mode. You can set the Lexicon to turn the trigger on or off by remote control or by configuring one input to be a 6 channel with the trigger off and a second input to be the 8 channel input with the trigger turned on.
Installed cost is $175 plus return shipping.
